So recently i came across a post on the facebook group “lofi.family” where a user was asking for some sp404 style effects to go on there finished beats. This made me realise that id previously built an effects rack for ableton that emulated the sp404. I did this when i was back in uni, before i had the money for an actual 404, (because if you cant afford it, just build it yourself, lol).. Anyway, here it is for those wanting a download:
I finally found the time after a busy day of work yesterday to sit down and make a lofi beat video, i need to do these more often, had alot of fun making this video. I think i made the beat some time last year, feels so good to release it to the world and share this with people. Im going to try to make atleast 1 new video like this each week, but as life and work gets in the way, i cant make any promises. But we will see…!
If you like the beat, you ca go grab a copy over at https://tetrahex.bandcamp.com/track/send-moods
Recently i decided to start a new mix series called the ‘Monday mix tape’ mainly with the aims of increasing my social media following and gaining new fans and potential DJ bookings.Iv been wanting to do this for a while but haven’t had the time to do so, but now that iv recently finished uni, iv got more time to focus on making more music and putting mixes together.
To view the mixes, check the link below:
There’s no real set genre, im hoping that each mix will be different from the last, just to keep things interesting. The first mix featured lofi/house, the second mix featured drum n bass and footwork tracks, not sure where il go next in terms of style for the next mix, i might go somewhere different all together, who knows…! Although to be honest im thinking of putting together a lofi/hiphop mix, full of tracks that have inspired me and tracks from people from the vaarious lofi groups on facebook (more beats>less sleep, lofi dreamers etc)
Im always on the look out for new tracks, so If you want your music featured in the Monday Mixtape, send your music to email@example.com.
Seeing as this is the first post, let me introduce myself. My name is Jack, and i make music!
I started off as a live sound engineer for a church when i was 14, then went on to producing my own music at age 15 when i got hold of some music software (an app called “lmms“) This eventually led to studying music technology for 2 years before going off to uni to study creative sound and music for the next 3 years. Somewhere between all the studying, i released a few EP’s and cassettes which can be seen (or should that be heard…?) over on soundcloud.
As mentioned, i used to use an app called lmms. whilst it served its purpose in learning the basics of production, i eventually moved on to ableton, which is what i still use for 80% of production work (with protools being the 20%)
Now iv arrived at the end of my uni course, i hope to continue producing, recording, mixing and mastering music as i have been doing over the past few years whilst at uni. I hope to open a professional studio at some point in the next two years, but until then, the home studio will suffice!
For those who want to see my work, check out the portfolio section at the top of the page.
